Located just southeast of Port Augusta, the Davenport BESS Project is a landmark energy storage initiative designed to stabilise and support South Australia’s renewable energy future. With an initial capacity of up to 270MW and 2160MWh, and the potential to double this in the future, it will help manage grid fluctuations by storing excess energy and releasing it during peak periods.
The project’s proximity to an existing substation enables efficient grid connectivity and enhances operational performance. Once complete, Davenport will significantly improve energy security, reduce curtailment of renewable generation, and contribute to a more flexible and sustainable energy network.
